The wireless transmission of video from a camera back has been sought after ever since the first realization of cabling costs and limitations. When running a cable is less than ideal, impractical, or impossible, wireless transmission becomes an option. Too often, this option is overlooked, not considered, or forgotten. This is understandable because keeping a reliable wireless signal and avoiding dropouts can be such a challenge.
Brand-agnostically speaking, 5 GHz Wireless is the best option for HD SDI & HDMI Video Transmission. However, for our price point, we have the industry’s best current range of wireless camera back solution. In a RF quiet environment where line of sight is maintained, a range of 100 meters or more is easily achieved using our duck-tail antennas. In a typically noisy RF environment, while keeping LOS (Line of Sight), you should get 50-75 meters. One VidOvation customer has reported good results even in the hectic environment of Times Square. Furthermore, adding directional antennas can allow for a tremendous improvement to the range if required. With this addition, you can reach up to 500 meters.
VidOvation supports other types of wireless transmission as well such as 60 GHz and COFDM. See our entire wireless selection here.
